In October 1933 he founded the Sudeten deutschen Partei (SdP), the strongest political party in Czechoslovakia. This party was supported financially by the Nazi regime. In 1938 Henlein and his party were used by the German Government to create a crisis with the Czech government. In March 1939, when Hitler marched into Czechoslovakia, Henlein was rewarded by being appointed the Head of the Civil Administration of Bohemia and Moravia. In 1945 he committed suicide after he was arrested by the Czech resistance.
